How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Waites Recruitment Consultancy are seeking a cost manager for a client based in Edenbridge (Kent) for full time work. A fantastic opportunity with room to grow within the business.

    Job Title: Junior Procurement / Cost Manager

    Hours: 9:00-17:30 Mon-Fri

    Main Purpose of Role:

    The purpose of this role is to manage project commercials to keep the client and Project Manager informed regarding the financial status of projects and ensure that project overspend is mitigated where possible and identified ahead of time. It is also expected that whilst performing in the role you will gain a solid understanding of the construction industry and stages of projects and begin to produce fee estimates for upcoming projects.

    Responsibilities:

    * Conduct thorough cost analysis for projects by carrying out review of material & labour rates

    * Monitor and report project expenditures and prepare detailed cost reports showing budget variances

    * Forecast future project costs based on previous experience and knowledge of current industry trends

    * Ensure vendors works are appropriately valued and manage the payment process (usually on a monthly basis)

    * Assist in the preparation and issuing of documents to request costs from potential vendors

    * Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers and contractors to ensure project costs achieve market value

    * Participate in project meetings to provide updates from a cost perspective

    * Procurement of vendors: identify and approach appropriate vendors for works and communicate with them to ensure competitive tenders can be carried out

    * Support the Project Managers where necessary by offering advice from a financial and contractual perspective

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    * Being personable, confident, organised, and a strong attention to detail are all attributes that will serve you well in this role.

    * The right candidate should be proactive and analytical, taking responsibility for project commercials.

    * Strong Excel skills will be required, alongside Maths and English.

    * Understanding of construction industry would be a benefit
