How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Junior Plant Engineer
    Portskewett, Commutable from Newport, Cardiff, Chepstow, Bristol

    £38,000 + Overtime + Training + Career Progression

    On offer is an opportunity to join one of the UK's leading mobile plant suppliers within the quarrying and aggregates sector. You'll receive full support, hands-on training, and the chance to develop your skills working on some of the newest and most technologically advanced heavy plant equipment in Europe.

    This company is committed to developing its people and is looking for an ambitious and motivated individual to join its workshop team. Whether you come from a plant, agricultural, HGV, automotive, military or similar mechanical background, full training and development will be provided for the right candidate.

    The day-to-day of this role involves assisting with the maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy quarrying and construction equipment, preparing machines for hire and sale, carrying out inspections, and learning fault-finding techniques across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and receive ongoing support to develop your technical skills and progress your career.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a genuine interest in engineering, and the desire to learn and develop within a growing business.

    The role:
    Junior Plant Engineer
    Maintenance and repair of heavy quarrying and construction equipment
    Machine inspections and preparation for hire and sale
    Full training on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
    Workshop-based role

    The person:
    Mechanical qualification, apprenticeship or relevant engineering experience desirable
    Background in plant, agricultural, automotive, HGV, military or similar industries considered
    Motivated to learn and develop new skills
    Positive attitude and strong work ethic
    Able to work independently and as part of a team
    Based in or willing to commute Caldicot
