How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a long-established commercial laundry business based in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful family-owned company that has been operating for over 130 years. With an annual turnover of £9-10 million, the business has built a reputation for quality, reliability and exceptional customer service. More importantly, they have built a loyal workforce by genuinely looking after their employees and providing long-term career stability.

The company remains family-owned, with the owners actively involved in the business and committed to its future, offering a level of security and stability that is increasingly difficult to find.

    The Role

Working as part of a close-knit engineering team of five, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of commercial laundry machinery and equipment to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

This role is ideally suited to a mechanically biased engineer who also possesses good electrical fault-finding skills. Formal electrical qualifications are not essential, but you should be comfortable working with electrical systems and diagnosing faults.

    Key Responsibilities

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Responding to equipment breakdowns and carrying out fault finding
    Mechanical repairs and component replacement
    Basic electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting
Supporting machinery upgrades and continuous improvement projects
Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime
Maintaining high standards of health and safety
    Requirements

Previous maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing, production, laundry, FMCG or similar environments
    Strong mechanical maintenance skills
Good electrical knowledge and fault-finding ability
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
    Strong communication skills
    Reliable and dependable work ethic
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Working Hours

    Monday to Friday
    PM Shift: 2:30pm - 11:45pm
    40 hours per week
Please note: As part of this role, engineers are expected to work an additional 5 hours overtime on either a Saturday or Sunday on approximately 46 weekends per year. These hours are paid at time and a half and form part of the expected earnings package.

There are also further overtime opportunities available for those wishing to increase their earnings.

    Salary & Benefits

Basic salary of £38,480 per annum
Expected earnings of £44,000+ per annum including regular weekend overtime
    Additional overtime available
    Company mobile phone provided
    27 days annual leave
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day off
Bank Holidays worked as part of the operation
    All PPE provided
Potential company vehicle after 12-18 months
Stable long-term employment with a respected family-owned business
Supportive management team and excellent working environment
