How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Working Foreman - Birmingham - £24.67 per hour

    VGC Group are looking for an experienced Working Foreman to start on a project in Birmingham. This opportunity is available for an immediate start and offers up to 2 years' work for the right candidate.
    This is a hands-on role requiring a strong site presence, combining supervision with practical support to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to programme.

    Role Details
    - Role: Working Foreman
    - Location: Birmingham
    - Salary: £24.67 per hour
    - Hours: 50 per week
    - Contract: Contract Type / Ongoing
    - Experience: 2 years + in a supervisory or foreman role

    Qualifications:
    o CSCS Gold or Black Card (Supervisory/Management)
    o SMSTS
    o First Aid at Work
    o CPCS (Preferred but not essential)

    Responsibilities
    Your role as a Working Foreman will include both supervisory and hands-on duties:
    - Leading and supervising a team of operatives, subcontractors, and site personnel
    - Working alongside the team to support delivery of daily tasks where required
    - Allocating work and ensuring productivity targets and programme deadlines are met
    - Providing clear instructions and guidance to site teams
    - Maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality control

    Health & Safety
    - Conducting site safety briefings (toolbox talks) and daily task briefings
    - Monitoring compliance with health & safety procedures at all times
    - Carrying out regular safety inspections and addressing any issues promptly
    - Reporting incidents, near misses, and hazards

    Site Coordination
    - Managing materials, plant, and labour efficiently
    - Liaising with site managers, engineers, and other stakeholders
    - Ensuring site is kept clean, tidy, and organised
    - Completing all relevant documentation (timesheets, permits, reports)

    Requirements
    To be successful in this role, you must have:
    - A valid CSCS Gold or Black Card
    - SMSTS certification
    - First Aid at Work certificate
    - Proven experience as a Working Foreman or Supervisor within construction
    - Strong leadership and communication skills
    - Ability to work both hands-on and in a supervisory capacity
    - Good organisational skills and reliability
