How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Techniche Global is supporting an international Oil & Gas engineering company with appointing a number of CNC Machinists for their facility in Barrow-in-Furness.
These roles are initially offered as 6-month contracts, with a expectation of extension based on workload and performance.

    CNC Machinist (Operator / Setter)
The Role: Focuses on setting and operating machinery according to strict procedures, maintaining equipment, and ensuring precision component manufacturing.
Contract: Initial 6 months (long-term extension expected).
    CNC Machinist (Operator / Programmer)

The Role: Requires a higher level of technical autonomy to program, set, and optimize complex machinery from engineering drawings and CAD data.
Contract: Initial 6 months (long-term extension expected).

    Key Responsibilities:
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable product delivery while maintaining workshop equipment to the highest standards.

Machining Excellence: Program, set, and operate CNC machines (specifically Mazak 5-axis Lathes using G-code and M-code controls).
Manual Machining: Ability to operate Manual Lathes and Gate Mills when required.
Technical Interpretation: Interpret and work directly from complex engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications to achieve tight tolerances.
Program Optimization: Create, optimize, and edit CNC programs to maximize machining efficiency and minimize downtime.
Tooling & Setup: Conduct precise tool selection, tool setting, and offsets to ensure high-quality output.
Maintenance & Safety: Participate in pre-job and Toolbox meetings. Execute routine maintenance activities, report any equipment deviations, and participate in failure investigations when relevant.
Continuous Improvement: Utilize the guiding principles of the Manufacturing System workflow to identify opportunities to improve service delivery.

    Skills & Experience Required:

Background: Proven experience as a CNC Machinist, ideally within a precision engineering, technology, or high-specification manufacturing centre.
Machinery & Software (Essential for Programmers): Direct, hands-on experience with Mazak machines and Intergrex 200-III programming. Proficiency with Mazatrol Fusion 640 and SolidCAM is essential.
Workflow: Solid understanding of production workflows and precision machining standards.
Mindset: A strong commitment to health and safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

All candidates must be able to prove that they have the right to work in the UK.
