How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    IR35: Outside

    Our Client has a requirement for a Setting Out Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Thornton-Cleveleys.

    Role Purpose:

    Working from the client's Head Office and local project site, the Setting Out Engineer will be responsible for ensuring construction and engineering works are accurately set out and delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and programme requirements. The role will involve close collaboration with site management teams, engineers, and subcontractors to support the successful delivery of works.

    Job Role Responsibilities:

    Carry out setting out, surveying, and dimensional control activities in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project programmes.
    Establish and maintain survey control points and site datums.
    Check line, level, and alignment of structures and groundworks.
    Interpret and review engineering drawings and specifications.
    Communicate design changes, discrepancies, and technical issues to site teams.
    Coordinate activities with site managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
    Ensure quality assurance requirements are met and maintain accurate as-built records.
    Support health, safety, and environmental compliance on site.
    Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with company procedures and policies.
    Monitor site conditions, including movement, vibration, and environmental factors where required.
    Maintain and regularly check the calibration of surveying equipment.
    Keep accurate records of site activities, quality inspections, QA documentation, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
    Raise technical queries and identify potential programme or sequencing issues.
    Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

    Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on UK onshore construction or civil process engineering projects.
    Strong working knowledge of surveying equipment, including Total Stations and GPS systems.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
    Good understanding of construction methods, tolerances, and quality standards.
    Strong communication and organisational skills.
    Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
    Valid CSCS Card (essential).
    Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
