RBG Kew has a second UK site at Wakehurst, West Sussex. The estates consist of over 380 buildings and structures, 40 plus listed buildings, which are used for visitors, scientific research, storage of national collections and administration.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Estates maintenance strategy under the instruction of the Chief Engineer at RBG Kew. Our maintenance strategy underpins the standards required and constant availability of the built facilities. These standards and service levels being commensurate with a UNESCO World Heritage Site of major significance, and a centre of excellence for botanical science. The role will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the planned preventative and reactive maintenance within our Kew estate.
The successful candidate will be a strong departmental leader with a track record of managing directly employed teams in addition to external suppliers. This role would suit individuals who have strong expertise in delivering change and transformation across a similarly diverse and complex estate. A strong background in fabric maintenance would be very advantageous.
