How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Power Team is exclusively partnering with a world class steam/air blowing company to recruit a Graduate Design Engineer for its Southeast area.

    The strategically important Graduate Design Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £28,000 per annum, car allowance and offers the opportunity to work all over the world.

    Responsibilities and duties of the Graduate Design Engineer role

    Reporting to the Technical Manager you will:

    Preparing proposals for our services to clients.
    Engineering design including flow calculations, piping design and stress analysis.
    Preparing method statements and risk assessments.
    Planning and specifying equipment requirements for projects.
    Arranging shipping and transportation of SABSCO equipment.
    Supervising our projects on site ensuring that all aspects of the site operation run smoothly.
    On site preparation and maintenance of records of work performed.
    Undertaking field measurements and chemical analysis to determine effectiveness of the cleaning process.

    Professional qualifications

    We are looking for someone with the following:

    Ideally be a graduate in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or experience in a similar role in the power or petrochemical industry.
    Ideally have Piping design and stress analysis experience including the use of Caesar 2 software.
    Have experience of working in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment.
    Full Driving Licence

    The Graduate Design Engineer role would suit someone who is:

    Be an excellent communicator
    Be willing to travel for UK and International meetings and site implementation of our projects for periods from 1 day up to 6 weeks with some possible night shifts
    Have a hands-on approach
    Have full right to live and work within the UK and hold a passport as international travel is required
