How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Contract Type: Supply / Flexible Working
    Start Date: Ongoing

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis across a well-established trust of schools in Chesterfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced education professionals looking for flexible work while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across a variety of school settings, supporting pupils who may face barriers to learning due to behavioural, emotional, or mental health challenges.

    The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

Providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
Building positive relationships and acting as a positive role model.
Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
Promoting positive behaviour and implementing behaviour support strategies.
Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external agencies.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or challenging behaviour.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
    Strong behaviour management skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

    Pay Information

Daily rates typically range from £95 to £120 per day, depending on experience, availability, and the specific requirements of the school.

Candidates looking to achieve the higher end of the pay scale will generally need to demonstrate significant SEMH experience, a strong track record within educational settings, and be available to work on a full-time basis. Final pay rates will also be influenced by the individual needs of the school and the nature of the role being undertaken.

Flexible supply opportunities to suit your availability.
Access to a wide network of schools across Chesterfield.
Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Dedicated support from an experienced education consultant.
