Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a specialist manufacturer of bespoke automation and special-purpose machinery based in West Sussex.

Our client is a well-established engineering business that designs and manufactures innovative automated production equipment and robotic systems supplied to customers across the UK and internationally.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview

Design and development of bespoke automated machinery and robotic systems using SolidWorks
Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings and Bills of Materials
Design mechanical components, fabricated assemblies, machined parts and pneumatic systems
Support new product development and continuous improvement projects
Work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing and production teams
Participate in design reviews and technical problem-solving activities
Support machine build, testing and commissioning activities when required

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements

HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
Previous experience within a machinery, automation, robotics or special-purpose equipment environment
Proficient with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication and assembly
Experience producing detailed engineering drawings and BOMs
Knowledge of pneumatic systems and automated machinery would be advantageous
Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
