How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Overview

As a Social Worker within the Child Protection and Child in Need Team, you will be responsible for assessing risk, planning interventions and working in partnership with children, families and multi-agency professionals to ensure children receive the right support at the right time. You will manage cases from assessment through to longer-term planning, using relationship-based practice to improve outcomes and reduce risk.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage a diverse caseload of children and families subject to Child in Need and Child Protection processes.

Undertake statutory assessments, including Child and Family Assessments, to identify needs, strengths and risks.

Complete Section 47 enquiries and work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children at risk of significant harm.

Develop, implement and review Child in Need and Child Protection plans that are outcome-focused and child-centred.

Undertake direct work with children and families to understand their lived experiences and support positive change.

Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, meetings and court proceedings where required.

Attend and contribute to strategy discussions, core groups, Child Protection Conferences and multi-agency meetings.

Ensure statutory visits, case recordings and assessments are completed within required timescales.

Work in partnership with education, health, police and other professionals to deliver coordinated interventions.

Maintain accurate and timely case recording in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.

    Benefits

Competitive pay rate of £39 per hour.

Opportunity to work within an established frontline safeguarding service.

Varied and rewarding caseload across Child in Need and Child Protection work.

Supportive management structure and regular supervision.

    Collaborative multi-agency working environment.

The chance to make a genuine difference to the lives of children and families within Salford.

    Requirements

Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).

Current registration with Social Work England.

Previous experience within Children's Frontline Services, including Child Protection and Child in Need.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and risk assessment processes.

Experience completing Section 47 enquiries and managing Child Protection plans.

Ability to build effective relationships with children, families and partner agencies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
