How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Permanent, Full Time (37 Hours Per Week – Remote Working with 2 Days in the Office)

Looking for an employer where you feel included, valued, respected and proud to be part of a progressive and innovative organisation? We’re a flexible and family friendly organisation, who believe that everyone deserves a home they can be proud of, where they can thrive and be healthy.

We’re now seeking a Surveyor – someone to support GCH’s Planned Programme by overseeing the successful delivery of large scale, multi-year projects and contracts.

You will manage individual contracts and programmes ensuring that our Assets are improved in accordance with agreed standards and meet all regulatory requirements, including Home England’s Decent Homes Standards. You will lead on budgetary control, contract coordination, management and administration, ensuring services are delivered to customer satisfaction, agreed standards, required level of performance and achieve Value for Money.

You will operate as an expert for GCH on all property issues and investment decisions, providing technical building support and advice to the Capital Works Manager and Asset & Sustainability Manager. You will manage all day-to-day contract and/or commercial issues and disputes, ensuring they progress according to due process and are resolved with minimum impact.

    We’d like you to…

    * Hold a relevant technical qualification e.g. Member of CIOB or intermediate grade RICS or Member of Chartered Institute of Housing.

    * Have substantial experience as a Surveyor of Asset Management, Property Investment and Public Procurement.

    * Have a proven track record of managing £1m+ planned improvement project resources, budgets and contracts with the ability to identify and eliminate risks, ensuring Value for Money and the delivery of high-quality services.

    * Be able to make sound financial judgements.

    * Be comfortable managing complex projects, working within tight deadlines and budget, whilst promoting stakeholder involvement at all levels.

    * Be able to understand and present technical information clearly, communicating matters related to asset management to a varied audience.

You must hold a valid driving licence and have the use of your own car to be able to travel within the city and other areas as required.

    Closing Date: 8th July 2026

    Interview Date: 15th July 2026

GCH reserve the right to bring the closing date forward should enough quality applications be received prior to the current closing date
