How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a leading renewable energy consultancy to recruit a Renewables Electrical Engineer to support on renewable infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.

    The Renewables Electrical Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £70,000 depending on experience, alongside an excellent benefits package.

    Responsibilities and duties of the Renewables Electrical Engineer role

    Reporting to the Head of Electrical you will:

    Advise clients on grid connection requirements, associated costs, project timescales and technical considerations for renewable energy developments.
    Prepare and submit grid connection applications and modification requests for wind, solar PV and battery energy storage projects.
    Review and oversee the design, installation and commissioning of electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
    Ensure grid connection infrastructure is delivered in accordance with Distribution Network Operator (DNO) and Transmission System Operator (TSO) requirements
    Provide technical support to project delivery teams throughout the development and construction phases of renewable energy projects.
    Attend project meetings and carry out site inspections to monitor progress, assess quality and identify any corrective actions required.
    Support the planning, coordination and delivery of grid code compliance testing activities.
    Monitor developments in electrical engineering standards, grid regulations and renewable energy technologies
    Coordinate and manage external consultants, contractors and specialist technical advisors where required

    Professional qualifications

    We are looking for someone with the following:

    Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or possess equivalent industry experience
    Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience within electrical engineering, power systems, utilities or renewable energy projects
    Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, grid connection processes and project delivery
    Knowledge of medium and high voltage electrical systems, protection schemes and network infrastructure
    Experience supporting the design, construction or commissioning of renewable energy projects up to 132kV
    Experience within the renewable energy sector would be highly advantageous

    Personal skills

    The Renewables Electrical Engineer role would suit someone who is:

    Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    Analytical with a structured approach to problem solving
    Proactive and capable of working independently when required
    Collaborative and comfortable working within multidisciplinary project teams
    Adaptable and able to manage changing project priorities
