How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Area Engineering Manager – Fire & Security Systems

(Automation Fire Doors, Roller Shutters & Access Control)

    Overview

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Area Engineering Manager to lead and develop a team of field engineers across a defined region.

This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering high standards of service, technical performance, and operational efficiency across all engineering activities.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on support in the field while driving performance across productivity, compliance, customer satisfaction, and revenue.

This opportunity is ideal for a Senior Engineer or Supervisor looking to step up into management, or an experienced Manager seeking a new challenge within a growing organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Team Leadership & Development

The role involves leading, supporting, and developing a team of field-based engineers across the region. You will carry out regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching to ensure continuous improvement. You will support recruitment, onboarding, and technical training of new engineers while providing hands-on technical guidance and mentorship. Managing engineer availability and supporting on-call rota planning also forms a key part of this role.

    Operational Management

You will oversee day-to-day engineering operations and workload allocation, ensuring all work is completed within SLA targets and service expectations. The position requires managing escalations, urgent callouts, and complex technical issues while attending sites where necessary to support engineers or resolve issues directly. Ensuring accurate and timely job updates within internal systems such as CASH is essential.

    Performance & Productivity

You will be responsible for driving and improving performance across key operational metrics, including engineer productivity, revenue delivery, first-time fix rates, and overall quality of work. The role involves improving scheduling efficiency, reducing backlog and overdue works, and managing open calls. You will identify underperformance and implement effective improvement plans to raise standards across the team.

    Quality, Compliance & Safety

The Area Engineering Manager will ensure that all engineering work meets both company and industry standards. This includes carrying out audits, site inspections, and toolbox talks, as well as supporting accident investigations and ensuring all reporting procedures are followed. You will also ensure compliance with RAMS, safe systems of work, and all relevant safety regulations.

    Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

You will support the Regional Contracts Manager in maintaining strong relationships with key clients. The role includes attending client meetings and operational reviews where required. You will proactively resolve service issues before they escalate and ensure clear and effective communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

    Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in automation fire doors, roller shutters, and access control systems. You will have experience leading, supervising, or mentoring engineers, along with a solid understanding of industry standards and compliance requirements. Experience working in a fast-paced, field-based service environment is essential, along with familiarity with service management systems such as CASH.

    What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a hands-on leader who leads by example and is confident providing technical support in the field. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, performance-driven, and capable of making decisions under pressure. Strong problem-solving ability is essential, along with a genuine motivation to improve both team performance and overall operational delivery.
