How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading multi-million pound civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a major water treatment upgrade scheme in the Midlands.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile project delivering critical infrastructure improvements within the UK water sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to the required quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Setting out and surveying for a range of civil engineering works.
    - Managing and overseeing construction activities relating to reinforced concrete (RC) structures, drainage networks, and buried pipework installations.
    - Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and programme requirements.
    - Producing and maintaining accurate QA documentation.
    - Completing and managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
    - Preparing and updating as-built records and drawings.
    - Undertaking quality inspections and ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications.
    - Supporting site management teams with technical queries and engineering solutions.
    - Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, and project stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
    - Maintaining accurate site records and progress reports.

    Requirements:

    - Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or water infrastructure projects.
    - Strong background in RC structures, drainage, and pipework installations.
    - Experience managing quality assurance processes, including QA documentation, ITPs, and as-built records.
    - Competent in setting out using modern surveying equipment.
    - Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
    - CSCS Card (essential).
    - SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable).
    - Water industry experience (highly desirable).
    - Strong communication and organisational skills.
