How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service Engineer – CHP & Gas Engines
    Field Based | Competitive Salary + Company Vehicle + Overtime | Permanent Position
    We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a growing service team supporting a fleet of gas-fired CHP (Combined Heat and Power) systems across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically and electrically skilled engineer to work on advanced power generation equipment, delivering planned maintenance, fault finding and breakdown support to a diverse customer base.
    The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and performance of CHP units and associated auxiliary equipment while delivering exceptional levels of customer service.
    The RoleAs a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing CHP systems in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards. Working independently in the field, you will support both planned preventative maintenance schedules and reactive breakdown call-outs.
    Key Responsibilities
    Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and scheduled servicing of gas-fired CHP units and associated equipment.
    Diagnose faults and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to restore equipment to full operational condition.
    Undertake engine strip-downs, rebuilds and performance diagnostics.
    Troubleshoot control systems and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and procedures.
    Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in an on-call rota as required.
    Complete service reports, maintenance records and technical documentation accurately and on time.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through professional communication and service delivery.
    Maintain company tools, test equipment and service vehicle to the highest standard.
    Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.Essential Requirements
    NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
    Previous experience working on CHP units, gas engines or power generation equipment.
    Gas Safe certification.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
    Experience carrying out engine maintenance, repairs and overhauls.
    Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
