Role Overview
Primarily support the Building Control function within the Planning and Development Management service
Provide high-quality administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient processing of applications and enquiries
Deliver excellent customer service through a range of communication channels including telephone, email, and in-person contact
Work as part of a busy team supporting planning, building control, enforcement, and related services Key Responsibilities
Process and maintain accurate records for planning applications, building control applications, and preliminary enquiries
Update and manage information received from multiple sources in line with legal, regulatory, and data protection requirements
Ensure correct validation of applications and support the validation process for planning and building control submissions
Calculate planning and building control fees in accordance with government regulations and council fee schedules
Issue correct notifications, decision documents, and correspondence to customers in line with legislation and council policies
Handle incoming telephone calls, directing enquiries appropriately and taking messages where required
Respond to customer enquiries across telephone, email, and face-to-face channels in a professional and timely manner
Provide clear explanations of complex planning and building control matters in an understandable format
Support administrative processes including post handling, scanning, document control, and email management Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Strong communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with the public and stakeholders
Experience working in an office or administrative environment
Experience providing customer service via telephone, email, and face-to-face
Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
Ability to work accurately with data and maintain attention to detail
