How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Gas Engineer required for our client, they are a well-established and highly respected mechanical services contractor local to Ipswich, specialising in heating, ventilation, electrical, renewable energy, and air conditioning systems across commercial and domestic environments.

    Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Gas Engineer who is domestic and/or commercial gas qualified to join their expanding team. The successful Lead Gas Engineer will attend a variety of commercial and residential sites throughout Ipswich and the surrounding areas, carrying out servicing, maintenance, repair, and fault-finding works on heating and mechanical systems.

    Senior Gas Engineer Responsibilities
    - Service and repair commercial heating systems, including boilers, pipework, and associated mechanical equipment
    - Attend reactive breakdown works, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs
    - Assist with installation projects as and when required
    - Carry out repair and maintenance works on domestic heating systems within care homes and large residential properties
    - Work across a range of sites including local authority buildings, schools, care homes, leisure centres, offices, and commercial facilities
    - Ensure all works are completed in line with current regulations and health & safety standards
    - Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
    - Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong client relationships on site
    - Monitor and coach of less experienced engineers
    - Taking site surveys for new installations
    - Oversee and assist in the delivery of small works project, covering both residential and commercial properties

    Senior Gas Engineer Requirements
    - ACS Domestic Gas Safe qualifications - essential
    - ACS Commercial Gas Safe qualifications - advantageous
    - OFTEC or LPG qualifications advantageous
    - Proven experience servicing and repairing domestic heating systems
    - NVQ Level 3 in Heating & Ventilation or equivalent advantageous
    - Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities
    - Full UK Driving Licence
    - Based within a commutable distance of Ipswich
    - Good communication skills and professional approach when dealing with clients and colleagues

    Senior Gas Engineer Remuneration
    - Salary £45,000 – £50,000
    - Working hours 8:00am – 5:00pm
    - Company van provided
