How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client is a leading fire safety consultancy experiencing significant growth across the UK. Due to an expanding portfolio of projects, they are seeking a skilled Fire Surveyor to support the delivery of Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEW) on residential and mixed-use developments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a fire safety professional looking to develop their expertise within a highly respected organisation that places quality, technical excellence, and professional development at the forefront of its operations.

    The Role

Working alongside experienced fire engineers and surveyors, you will undertake site-based inspections and surveys to support FRAEW assessments in accordance with PAS 9980 guidance. You will be responsible for gathering accurate building information, documenting external wall construction details, and producing high-quality survey reports to support fire risk assessments.

    Key Responsibilities

Conduct on-site surveys of residential and mixed-use buildings.
Inspect external wall systems, cladding, insulation, cavity barriers, and associated fire safety measures.
Collect, record, and interpret building construction data to support FRAEW assessments.
Prepare detailed survey notes, photographs, and technical reports.
Liaise with clients, property managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Support fire engineers and senior consultants throughout the FRAEW process.
Ensure all work is completed in line with current legislation, guidance, and company standards.
Assist with project planning and delivery across multiple sites.

    Requirements

Previous experience in fire safety, building surveying, construction surveying, façade inspection, or a related discipline.
Good understanding of external wall systems and modern construction methods.
Familiarity with PAS 9980 and FRAEW processes would be advantageous.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

    Desirable Qualifications

Degree or qualification in Building Surveying, Fire Safety, Construction, or a related field.
Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, IFE, CABE, etc.).
    Experience surveying residential high-rise buildings.
Knowledge of Building Safety Act requirements and current fire safety legislation.

    What's on Offer

    Competitive salary and benefits package.
    Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
    Ongoing training and professional development.
Clear career progression opportunities within a growing consultancy.
Exposure to a wide range of high-profile residential and mixed-use projects.
