How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Senior Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.

    What will you do?

The CWA is recruiting a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a critical backfill package within the Main Civil Works programme at Sizewell C. This role sits at the heart of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, responsible for shaping the early stages of construction that enable the safe and efficient delivery of major structures across the site.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role across both pre-construction and delivery phases, driving collaboration between technical, commercial and operational teams. From defining strategy and developing execution plans through to overseeing delivery on site, this role offers the opportunity to influence a complex, high-value package with national importance

Leading the full lifecycle of the backfill package, from technical development through to on-site delivery

Managing design coordination with client consultants, engineering teams and alliance partners to ensure buildable and efficient solutions

Developing and validating construction methodologies, sequencing and 4D models to optimise programme delivery

Overseeing cost planning, budgeting and financial performance, identifying risks and driving mitigations where required

Supporting procurement activities including subcontractor scope definition, tendering and contract negotiation

Defining the delivery strategy and producing the Project Execution Plan to enable programme mobilisation

Driving safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery while maintaining the highest quality and compliance standards

Managing construction progress, reporting to key stakeholders and ensuring alignment with programme milestones

Leading quality assurance activities, including defining inspection strategies and managing on-site teams

Identifying and resolving technical and operational challenges, while proactively managing risk across the package

Managing interfaces with adjacent works, ensuring seamless integration across the wider programme

Championing health, safety and environmental excellence, influencing teams and supply chain partners

Ensuring effective resource planning and availability to meet delivery requirements

    What are we looking for?

Proven experience leading large-scale civil engineering projects, ideally within complex or regulated environments

Strong expertise in earthworks, excavation and backfill operations on major construction sites

Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate across functions

Experience managing programme delivery, including planning, cost control and stakeholder reporting

Knowledge of NEC4 contracts and working within joint ventures or alliances (desirable)

Professional membership with APM, PMI or similar

    CSCS Black Card (or equivalent)

Strong leadership behaviours aligned to collaboration, clarity, respect and continuous improvement

A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage complexity and drive results

    What we will offer you?

The CWA is a single delivery organisation made of up of the client (Sizewell C) and three parent companies - Balfour Beatty, Bouygues and Laing O'Rourke - which offer industry leading packages including market leading salaries, generous annual leave entitlements, pension scheme and other flexible benefits.
