How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lead Controls Engineer – Sustaining

    BMR Solutions are working with a global engineering and technology manufacturer to recruit a Lead Controls Engineer – Sustaining to join their growing engineering team in Bristol.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced controls engineer looking to take a technical leadership role, leading a team responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of control systems used within advanced industrial equipment.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership to a team of controls engineers while supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of control systems. Working closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams, you will ensure control systems are fully integrated, meet performance requirements, and comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.

    The role will involve overseeing control system development, supporting testing and validation activities, troubleshooting complex technical issues, mentoring engineers, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.

    About You

    We are looking for a technically strong controls engineer with experience developing industrial control systems and leading engineering activities within a manufacturing or technology-based environment.

    Applicants should have:

    * HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

    * Strong PLC programming experience, including ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks.

    * Experience developing HMI applications using VB.Net or similar high-level programming languages.

    * Experience creating technical documentation and engineering specifications.

    * Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

    * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

    Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP and EtherCAT would be advantageous.
