How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Electrical Design Engineer

    Duration: Circa 6 months

    Location: Normanton, West Yorkshire

    Hours: Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 17:00 | Friday 08:30 – 16:00

    Rate: Circa £40 8Neg on experience)

    GPS Recruitment are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team specialising in the design and manufacture of low-voltage electrical control panels for Building Management System (BMS) applications. The role will be initially for around 6 months

    You will be responsible for the design, development and documentation of electrical control panel solutions, supporting projects from initial concept through to manufacture and commissioning.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design low-voltage electrical control panels for BMS and building automation applications.
    • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts using CAD software.
    • Generate bills of materials (BOMs), technical documentation and manufacturing packs.
    • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and customer specifications.
    • Work closely with production and project teams to support build and testing activities.
    • Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding technical requirements where required.
    • Review and improve existing designs to enhance quality, efficiency and manufacturability.
    • Support troubleshooting and technical queries during project delivery.
    • Assist with project planning and ensure design milestones are achieved.

    Candidate Requirements
    • Proven experience in electrical design of control panels.
    • Strong CAD experience producing electrical schematics and panel layouts.
    • Good understanding of low-voltage electrical systems.
    • Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements.
    • Experience creating technical documentation and bills of materials.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
