How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service Engineer – Generators
    Grays, Thurrock | Competitive Salary + Company Vehicle | Permanent Position
    A leading provider of temporary and standby power solutions is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its growing operation in Grays, Thurrock. Supporting customers across a range of industries, the business has established a strong reputation for delivering reliable power generation equipment and exceptional service standards.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to join a busy depot operation and play a key role in maintaining, servicing and repairing generators both on customer sites and within the depot environment. The role is predominantly field-based and offers a varied workload, excellent benefits and long-term career development opportunities.
    Key Responsibilities
    Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on generators both on-site and within the depot.
    Diagnose and rectify faults on control panels, AC/DC electrical systems and associated equipment.
    Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure equipment remains operational and compliant.
    Undertake genset synchronisation activities where required.
    Complete service reports, PDI documentation and all associated maintenance paperwork accurately.
    Liaise directly with customers, providing a professional and customer-focused service.
    Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects to ensure roadworthiness.
    Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including Bank Holidays.
    Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and industry standards.Essential Requirements
    NVQ in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
    Previous experience within the generator, power generation or plant hire industry.
    Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
    Ability to prioritise workloads and manage service schedules effectively.
    Full UK driving licence held for a minimum of three years.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
    Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
