How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We're working with a well-established manufacturing business that has built a reputation for quality, consistency and long-term investment. They operate within a continuous production environment where reliability is critical, and their engineering team plays a central role in keeping the operation running smoothly.

The site has benefited from ongoing investment in both equipment and people, resulting in a stable workforce and a strong engineering culture. In fact, the company bonus has been paid every year for the past decade.

    Maintenance Engineer Duties

This is a hands-on position supporting a fast-paced manufacturing operation where you'll be trusted to diagnose faults, solve problems and help improve equipment performance.

Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site
Fault finding on Siemens S7 PLC-controlled equipment
Maintaining and improving blow film extrusion lines and associated machinery
Supporting continuous flow production equipment to minimise downtime
Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults and implementing effective solutions
Working closely with production teams to maintain output and efficiency
Contributing to ongoing reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
    Participating in a 1-in-3 weekend call-out rota

You'll have the autonomy to manage your workload and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on site performance.

    Maintenance Engineer Requirements

Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing
Multi-skilled background with an electrical bias (approximately 60/40)
    Strong electrical fault-finding abilities
Experience working with Siemens S7 PLCs from a fault-finding perspective
Exposure to continuous process or high-volume production environments
A proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving
Someone who takes ownership of their work and prides themselves on doing the job properly
Experience with blow film extrusion equipment would be advantageous, although engineers from similar manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

    What's On Offer

    £43,000 - £45,000 basic salary
Annual company bonus (paid every year for the last 10 years)
    Overtime opportunities available
    Days-based role (8:00am - 5:00pm)
    1 weekend in 3 call-out rota
    A stable, well-run business with long-term prospects
Ongoing investment in equipment and continuous improvement

If you're a Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding and wants to work within a business that genuinely looks after its people, it's worth having a conversation.

If you'd like to know more, feel free to get in touch for a confidential discussion.
