How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electronics Design Engineer - Cambridge - £60k

    Location: Cambridge
    Salary: £60k + benefits

    My client is a leading technology company developing advanced connectivity solutions for high-performance communications, industrial and government applications. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, they are looking to add an Electronics Design Engineer to their expanding engineering team.

    This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge products, developing next-generation electronic systems from concept through to volume manufacture within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

    The Role

    As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of complex electronic systems and hardware platforms, supporting innovative product development projects across the full product lifecycle.

    Working closely with mechanical, software and systems engineers, you will be responsible for delivering robust electronic designs that meet customer requirements and are optimised for manufacturing, quality and reliability.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Designing electronic hardware from concept through to production release

    * Developing analogue, digital and embedded electronic systems

    * Creating schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer

    * Reviewing requirements and ensuring compliance with specifications

    * Supporting architecture definition, simulation, prototyping and design validation

    * Developing test plans and carrying out verification and qualification testing

    * Applying Design for Excellence (DfX) principles to improve manufacturability and supply chain resilience

    * Performing component selection, lifecycle management and database maintenance

    * Conducting design reviews and supporting continuous improvement initiatives

    * Collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will have:

    * Degree qualification in Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

    * 4+ years' commercial electronics design experience

    * Proven experience delivering complex electronic products from concept through to manufacture

    * Strong PCB design experience, including schematic capture and layout

    * Experience using Altium Designer

    * Strong digital design knowledge, including communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB and Ethernet

    * Experience with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs

    * Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics design

    * Excellent debugging and fault-finding skills
