How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    English Teacher - Independent School
    Location: Northampton
    Start Date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

    We are working in partnership with a highly regarded independent school in Northampton seeking an outstanding English Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026. This is a full-time permanent position and presents an excellent opportunity to teach motivated students within a supportive and ambitious educational environment.

    About the Role:

    Teach engaging and challenging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5
    Deliver a broad and stimulating curriculum encompassing both English Language and English Literature
    Foster a genuine appreciation for reading, writing, critical thinking, and effective communication
    Encourage intellectual curiosity through the study of classic and contemporary texts
    Differentiate learning effectively to meet the needs of academically able and diverse learners
    Monitor student progress and provide high-quality feedback to support excellent outcomes
    Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities, clubs, trips, and events
    Work collaboratively within a successful and well-resourced English department

    Who We're Looking For:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
    A strong academic background in English Language, English Literature, or a related subject
    Experience teaching English at secondary level, including GCSE and ideally A-Level
    Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring young people
    High expectations for student achievement and behaviour
    Strong communication and organisational skills
    A commitment to contributing positively to school life beyond the classroom
