How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Software Test Engineer for a contract position in Stevenage. This role is integral in designing and developing test equipment software for cutting-edge missile systems and sub-components. Our client's dynamic and innovative team across Europe drives advancements in defence technology.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Designing and developing test equipment software for complex missile systems and sub-components
    Collaborating with various teams and stakeholders across the organisation to deliver test software capabilities from early concepts to production
    Experimenting with new technologies and implementations to meet evolving customer requirements
    Implementing changes to improve software development practices both within the test software domain and the broader software community
    Embracing agile methodologies to deliver value and achieve a real sense of accomplishment
    Engaging with test equipment and electronic circuitry in a software engineering office/lab environment

    Job Requirements:

    Experience in software engineering for the development of test solutions
    Proficiency in writing software in C/C++; familiarity with scripting languages is an advantage
    Experience working within an agile development team
    Understanding of creating high-quality software and supporting quality practices
    Familiarity with automation, continuous integration, and DevOps principles and practices
    Knowledge of electronics measurement and debugging techniques using tools like oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers
