How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Assistant Headteacher – SEND School 
    Are you an experienced SEND leader with a passion for curriculum development and improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs? Do you have the vision and expertise to lead a specialist pre-formal pathway for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)? This outstanding special school is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join its senior leadership team.

    This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the education of pupils with the most complex learning needs. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of a highly effective pre-formal curriculum, ensuring that learning is meaningful, engaging and tailored to the individual needs of every pupil.

You will work alongside an experienced and supportive leadership team that is committed to innovation, inclusion and continuous improvement.

    The Role:

    Lead the strategic development of the school's pre-formal curriculum
    Ensure outstanding provision for pupils with SLD and ASC
    Support and develop teachers, Teaching Assistants and middle leaders
    Drive high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the pathway
    Monitor pupil progress and ensure personalised learning outcomes are achieved
    Work closely with therapists, families and external agencies
    Contribute to whole-school leadership and school improvement initiatives
    Promote a culture of inclusion, innovation and excellenceThe Successful Candidate Will Have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Significant experience working within a SEND setting
    Strong knowledge of pre-formal learning, SLD and ASC provision
    Experience of curriculum development and implementation
    Proven leadership experience as an Assistant Headteacher, SENCO, Phase Leader or equivalent
    Excellent communication, coaching and leadership skills
