Control of Contractors Co-Ordinator
Location: Stevenage
Salary: £33,000 – £35,000
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Control of Contractors Co-Ordinator to take ownership of contractor governance, work authorisation, and permit-to-work processes. This role is critical in ensuring all subcontractor activities are carried out safely, compliantly, and efficiently.
About the Role
You will lead the coordination and control of subcontractor works, ensuring all required safety, compliance, and procedural standards are met. Working closely with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and HSEQ teams, you will play a key role in driving a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the work authorisation and permit-to-work process for all subcontractor activities
- Liaise with subcontractors and key stakeholders to ensure works are planned and delivered efficiently
- Review RAMS, training records, and H&S documentation to ensure compliance before work begins
- Identify risks and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to legal and procedural standards
- Investigate incidents, non-conformances, and drive corrective and preventative actions
- Produce compliance reports to support transparency and continuous improvement
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors to promote trust, engagement, and safe working practices
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a similar role with strong knowledge of M&E disciplines
- Good understanding of H&S legislation, permit-to-work systems, and contractor control
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors from both operational and safety perspectives
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, reactive environment
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach
Desirable:
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
- Experience with incident investigation, report writing, and root cause analysis
