How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

If you would like to join them, we are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers who would like to assist us in the day to day running of the community café on the following days:

Mondays– either or both of 08:00–12:30 and 12:00-16:30

    • Good communication and teamwork. Reliability and willingness to learn
    • (An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants).

    What’s in it for me?

    • Make a real difference in your community
    • Receive training and ongoing support
    • Gain experience and develop new skills such as food & hygiene and barista training
    • Meet new people and join a diverse, friendly team.

Volunteers must be 18 or over. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer work experience placements. Shifts are 4.5 hours, or 3.5 hours on Saturdays.

We can consider summer placements for adult students who can commit to 15–20 days. These days may be spread across your availability or completed within a 3-to-4 week period.
