How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Employment Associate | 2-4 years’ PQE | West End | Chambers, Spears & L500 Ranked

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded Employment & Partnerships team at a leading London law firm. Are you an Employment Solicitor with 2–4 years’ PQE looking to step into a broad, high-quality practice advising both corporates and senior individuals? This role offers a strong platform for long-term career development within a respected and collaborative team.

You will gain exposure to high-calibre work across contentious and non-contentious employment matters, working closely with experienced Partners on complex, strategically important instructions.

    The Firm

A highly regarded Legal 500, Spears and Chambers ranked law firm based in central London with an esteemed reputation for its expertise in Real Estate, Private Client, Dispute Resolution, Construction and many others. Handling high-profile deals such as multimillion-pound UK let industrial platform and Central London property acquisitions for major commercial names.

They deal with the same quality of work as much larger City firms without all the disadvantages associated with being a small cog in a big machine. Lawyers of all levels can get involved with business development, and it is common for fee earners at this firm to gain such a level of exposure they gain experience beyond their years of PQE.

You will find a creative, supportive, dynamic, forward-thinking and progressive culture. They invest heavily in their staff, with industry-leading training and a real platform for progression. There is a good work-life balance with flexibility and only 1300 chargeable hours targets, with hybrid working 2-3 days in the office per week.

There is an excellent social scene firm-wide, with social clubs, sports clubs and regular social events paid for by the firm.

    The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Employment Associate (2–4 years’ PQE) to join a well-established Employment & Partnerships team working closely with leading Partners, including the Head of Team.

The role offers a genuinely broad employment practice, covering both contentious and advisory matters. You will act for employers, partnerships and senior individuals across a wide range of sectors, advising on the full lifecycle of employment and partnership relationships.

    Work will include:

    • Advising employers on day-to-day employment issues, contracts, policies and procedures
    • Supporting on large-scale reorganisations and workforce change projects
    • Acting in High Court litigation and Employment Tribunal disputes
    • Advising senior executives, partners and individuals on exits, negotiations and workplace issues
    • Working on investigations (experience beneficial but not essential)
    • Exposure to partnership and senior executive advisory work
    • Involvement in reputationally sensitive and strategic workplace matters

You will gain exposure to a wide variety of clients, including corporates, partnerships, family offices and senior individuals. The dual-acting nature of the team means you will develop a rounded perspective, often seeing matters from multiple sides and contributing to strategically balanced advice.

As you progress, you will take on increasing responsibility for client matters, play an active role in managing relationships, and contribute to the development of junior lawyers and wider team initiatives. There is also strong scope to get involved in business development and shape your own practice within the team.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    • An England & Wales qualified solicitor with 3-6 years PQE in Employment law
    • Experience gained in a City, top-tier or specialist employment practice
    • Exposure to both respondent/employer and individual/claimant work is essential
    • Strong technical ability across contentious and non-contentious employment matters
    • Experience with investigations is advantageous but not essential
    • Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted client relationships
    • Commercially aware, with a balanced and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
    • Collaborative, proactive and keen to take ownership of work and client relationships
    • Interest in developing a broad, strategic employment and partnerships practice

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected Employment & Partnerships practice within a leading London firm, offering high-quality work, early responsibility and a genuinely collegiate environment.
