How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Manager (Retrofit & Refurbishment)
Wetherby, West Yorkshire | Hybrid Working

Are you an experienced Project Manager who thrives in fast-paced, live environments? Do you enjoy balancing stakeholder expectations, navigating operational challenges and delivering high-quality refurbishment projects with minimal disruption to business operations?

We're working exclusively on behalf of a long-established and highly respected consultancy to recruit a Project Manager to join their growing team. For over two decades, they have partnered with many of the UK's best-known hospitality and leisure brands, delivering refurbishment and retrofit programmes that enhance guest experience while protecting business performance.

This is an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the hotel, hospitality and retail sectors, taking ownership of schemes from inception through to completion.

    The Opportunity
As Project Manager, you'll act as the central point of coordination between clients, operational teams, contractors and consultants, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

    What You'll Be Doing
    • Leading refurbishment and retrofit projects through the full project lifecycle.
    • Acting as the key liaison between client teams, hotel operations, contractors and external consultants.
    • Chairing briefing, pre-start, progress and handover meetings to maintain momentum and accountability.
    • Developing and agreeing phasing strategies that protect trading operations and guest experience.
    • Managing multiple projects concurrently across a national portfolio.
    • Coordinating statutory approvals and maintaining communication with designers, contractors and regulatory bodies.
    • Monitoring project progress through regular site visits and virtual reviews where appropriate.
    • Facilitating ad hoc project meetings to proactively address emerging issues and risks.
    • Driving programme adherence, quality standards, action tracking and close-out activities.
    • Managing contractor performance, escalating concerns early and implementing recovery plans where necessary.
    • Producing clear and structured reporting for stakeholders throughout project delivery.
    • Coordinating specialist suppliers and FF&E packages, ensuring procurement aligns with programme requirements and site readiness.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience
    • Proven experience delivering fast-paced refurbishment projects within hospitality, retail or commercial property environments.
    • Demonstrable success working in live, occupied buildings with a clear understanding of guest protection, operational continuity and safe working practices.
    • Experience managing multiple projects and national programmes simultaneously.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and communicate effectively at all levels.
    • Broad construction knowledge across building works, M&E services, fire safety, finishes and FF&E.
    • Experience coordinating contractors, designers and statutory approval bodies.
    • Strong organisational skills, with disciplined control of programmes, risks, actions and phased handovers.
    • Confidence in challenging contractors and managing performance issues constructively.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
    • Sound understanding of health and safety principles within occupied buildings, including CDM requirements and fire safety during works.
    • The ability to remain calm under pressure and make considered decisions in demanding environments.
    • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

    Desirable Experience
    • Experience delivering programmes for recognised national brands.
    • Knowledge of fire safety regulations relevant to hospitality and retail environments.
    • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, fire alarm and security systems.
    • Experience managing projects in constrained city-centre locations or shopping complexes.
    • Exposure to out-of-hours project planning and delivery.
    • Experience managing brand standards, snagging processes and project close-out.
    • Ability to produce structured weekly and monthly reporting packs.
    • Awareness of hotel operational systems, including front-of-house interfaces, power/data routing and cutover planning.
    • A proactive mindset, bringing ideas and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project outcomes and business performance.

    Why Apply?
Our client has built an outstanding reputation over more than 20 years, becoming a trusted delivery partner to many of the UK's leading hospitality brands.

    In return, you'll benefit from:

    • A competitive basic salary.
    • Generous travel and expenses package.
    • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
    • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
    • Exposure to exciting, high-profile refurbishment programmes.
    • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
    • Genuine opportunities to influence delivery and make a visible impact.

    Interested?
