How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Design Engineer

    Location: Hull

    White Label Recruitment are working with a long-established UK manufacturer that designs and manufactures modular buildings, portable cabins and specialist steel structures for sectors including petrochemical, offshore, nuclear, commercial and infrastructure.

    This is a great opportunity for a Design Engineer with strong Autodesk Inventor experience and a background in steel fabrication, structural steel, modular buildings, cabins, containers, mezzanines, staircases, portal frames or similar.

    The Role:

    As Design Engineer, you’ll be involved in the design and development of bespoke steel structures, including modular buildings, temporary accommodation units, shipping containers and specialist fabricated steel products.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    * Producing 2D and 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor (80%) as well as Revit and AutoCAD

    * Creating detailed fabrication and assembly drawings

    * Designing steel structures, frames, containers and modular systems

    * Producing BOMs, technical specifications and design documentation

    * Working closely with production, fabrication and project teams

    * Supporting designs from concept through to manufacture

    * Helping resolve design and manufacturing queries

    * Working to relevant standards, regulations and client requirements

    The Person

    We’re looking for a practical Design Engineer who understands how steel products are designed, fabricated and manufactured.

    You’ll ideally have:

    * HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar would be useful but not a must

    * Strong Autodesk Inventor experience but open to people with SolidWorks experience

    * Experience designing - steel structures, fabricated steelwork or structural steel products, modular buildings, cabins, containers, mezzanines, staircases, portal frames, vehicle conversions or similar

    * Good understanding of steel fabrication, welding and manufacturing processes

    * Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings

    * Ability to work closely with fabrication and production teams

    Package & Benefits

    * Salary up to £45,000 - Depending on experience

    * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays - Holiday allowance increases with service, up to 29 days

    * Working Hours – 8:30 am until 5pm Monday – Friday – Flexible start times as long as you are in the office between 10 am – 4pm

    * 1 day working from home per week - Tuesday to Thursday

    * Discretionary profit-related bonus
