How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Specialist Occupational Therapist

    Location: Oakwood College, Yate

Salary: Between £12,915.00 and £15,548.40 for a 15‑hour week (2 days per week over 42 weeks). Equivalent full‑time salary: £39,975.00–£48,126.00 (37.5 hours over 52 weeks)

Contract Type: Permanent – 2 days per week, term‑time only

If you’re looking for a meaningful and rewarding clinical role that still gives you the freedom to prioritise life outside of work, this could be the perfect fit. Working just two days per week during term time, this position offers a rare balance, the chance to make a profound difference in the lives of learners with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, while enjoying the space to focus on family, study, wellbeing, or other commitments.

Whether you’re returning to practice, focusing on your family and other responsibilities, or simply seeking a healthier work–life balance, this role is designed with flexibility at its core. You’ll have protected time for clinical development and ongoing training, ensuring your professional growth continues at pace, without compromising your personal life.

Make an impact, feel fulfilled, and still have time for what matters most.

You’ll join a passionate and innovative Integrated Therapy Team where your expertise truly matters. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our therapy provision and supporting learners with neurodiverse needs, many of whom have experienced trauma. Your work will directly influence their independence, confidence, and long‑term outcomes.

This is an opportunity to use your clinical skills in a setting where every day brings meaningful connection and genuine impact, while still enjoying the balance and breathing room that a two‑day, term‑time schedule provides.

What your role will look like:

    • Taking a neurodiversity‑affirming and trauma‑informed approach with a small, manageable caseload.
    • Completing assessments, writing indirect therapy programmes, offering consultations, and delivering direct therapy.
    • Working closely with Speech and Language Therapists and Creative Arts Therapists as part of our integrated therapy team.
    • Designing and delivering training and mentoring for colleagues, supported by the Clinical Lead, to further develop our Occupational Therapy offer.

    What you’ll bring:

    • A recognised post‑graduate qualification in Occupational Therapy, plus essential training in Sensory Integration and Processing.
    • HCPC registration and RCOT membership.
    • Strong clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist.
    • The ability to complete or contribute to capacity assessments.
    • Confident IT skills (training provided for our systems).
    • A full driving licence, with occasional travel to other sites including our Tiverton Central Hub.

    What you’ll receive in return:

    • Holidays – You’ll get 28 days annual leave, including public holidays.
    • Pension scheme– Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
    • Learning & Development Opportunities – We provide comprehensive learning opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
    • Discounts – You’ll have access to brilliant discounts through the Blue Light Card and our own employee benefits platform.
    • Wellbeing Support – Your wellbeing is always our priority. You’ll have access to mental health and wellbeing support. On top of this, our therapies team offers a monthly confidential check in clinic, and group reflective practice sessions.
    • Cycle2Work -The cycle to work scheme enables you to buy a bicycle at a discounted rate.
    • DBS – As this role required you to have an enhanced DBS carried out, we will cover this cost.
    • After 12 months service - You’ll also be eligible for our Medicash scheme which covers a wide range of medical, health and wellbeing expenses (Including immediate access to a GP!). You’ll get life assurance paid at x2 your annual salary, and even more high street discounts.

Please note that as part of our safer recruitment processes, successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check, and online and social media checks, and reference validation.

At Phoenix Learning and Care, we pride ourselves on our diverse workforce and ensuring we have an inclusive environment for all our team members. We remain committed to ensuring our teams can bring their true selves to work without risk or fear of discrimination.
