🚀 Why This Role Matters
This role plays a key part in the successful delivery of architectural steelwork projects from initial enquiry through to fabrication and installation. The successful Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive costings for bespoke architectural metalwork packages, working closely with clients, designers, engineers, suppliers, and internal fabrication teams.
You will be instrumental in securing work across a range of high-profile architectural and construction projects, ensuring proposals are commercially accurate, technically viable, and aligned with client expectations.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for architectural steelwork packages
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and client enquiry documentation
- Undertake material take-offs for bespoke architectural metalwork including staircases, balustrades, feature steel, and façades
- Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
- Calculate labour, material, fabrication, finishing, and installation costs
- Liaise closely with clients, architects, designers, engineers, and project managers
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options during tender stage
- Support pre-contract negotiations and tender clarifications
- Attend design and pre-tender meetings where required
- Ensure all estimates are accurate, commercially competitive, and aligned with project requirements
- Maintain detailed records of tenders, quotations, and pricing assumptions
- Support handover of successful bids to project delivery teams
✅ Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous estimating experience within architectural steelwork or metalwork industry
- Strong understanding of architectural fabrication processes (stairs, balustrades, feature steelwork, façades, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Experience producing accurate material take-offs and cost breakdowns
- Strong commercial awareness and numerical accuracy
- Good understanding of fabrication and installation methods
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating systems
- Strong attention to detail and organised working approach
