How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Overview

    We are supporting the delivery of HS2 in the Aylesbury area and are seeking an experienced Multidisciplinary Sub Agent to work on a permanent basis. The role sits within a major civils package and involves coordination and delivery across multiple disciplines in a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment.

    Role Purpose

    The Sub Agent will be responsible for managing defined sections of works, ensuring safe, programmed, and quality‑driven delivery across a range of civil engineering activities. The role requires strong coordination between construction, commercial, design, and temporary works teams, as well as effective interface management with HS2 Ltd and stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Delivery & Construction Management

    Manage day‑to‑day delivery of multidisciplinary civils works including:

    Earthworks

    Drainage (surface and foul)

    Heavy structures / concrete works

    Utilities and services diversions

    Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and HS2 standards

    Coordinate subcontractors and direct delivery teams on site

    Plan and sequence works in collaboration with the Project Manager and Section Engineers

    Safety, Quality & Compliance

    Promote and maintain a strong, proactive health & safety culture

    Ensure compliance with HS2 Assurance, quality plans, ITPs, and project procedures

    Review and implement RAMS, permits, and safe systems of work

    Support audits, inspections, and HS2 technical assurance processes

    Commercial & Programme Control

    Assist with short‑term and look‑ahead planning

    Contribute to cost control, change management, and subcontractor performance

    Support valuation, compensation events, and early warning processes

    Identify and manage risks and opportunities within the section

    Design & Temporary Works Interface

    Work closely with design teams to resolve constructability issues

    Coordinate and manage temporary works in line with temporary works procedures

    Ensure timely approvals and implementation of permanent and temporary designs

    Stakeholder & Client Interface

    Act as a key site‑based point of contact with HS2, the client, and supply chain partners

    Support stakeholder coordination where construction interfaces with third‑party assets

    Skills & Experience Required

    Essential

    Proven experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Section Engineer on major UK infrastructure projects

    Strong multidisciplinary civils background (earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities)

    Experience working within regulated environments such as HS2, highways, rail, or major frameworks

    Good understanding of NEC forms of contract

    Ability to manage multiple work fronts and interfaces simultaneously

    Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

    Desirable

    Previous HS2 project experience

    Experience working in assurance‑led or client‑heavy environments

    HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

    SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator
