How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Enabling Support Worker
Field-based in Exeter, Devon, travelling to the homes of clients

    The Organisation

Operating across Devon and Torbay, Headway Devon is a local charity dedicated to improving life after brain injury.

Brain injuries are a hidden disability that can affect personalities, relationships and the ability to lead an independent life. When a person’s life is turned upside down by a brain injury, we ensure they get the help and support they need and deserve.

We are now looking for an Enabling Support Worker to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working variable hours, with the potential to build to 30 hours per week. An immediate start is available.

    The Benefits

    - Hourly rate of £13.09 (when client-facing)
    - Travel time paid from home at minimum wage
    - Excellent training provided
    - Group company pension
    - Develop an extremely rewarding career with a local charity
    - Friendly and inclusive culture
    - The chance to play a key role in people’s recovery process and support their progress

This is a meaningful opportunity for a compassionate individual with strong communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable people to join our dedicated organisation.

You’ll play a vital role supporting people whose lives have been changed by brain injury, helping them rebuild confidence, strengthen independence and stay connected to the world around them.

What’s more, you’ll be joining a friendly and inclusive local charity where excellent training is provided and where your contribution will be valued as part of our wider, welcoming team, with part-time hours offering greater flexibility alongside a deeply rewarding role.

So, if you’re ready to bring empathy, patience and encouragement to a role that can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

    The Role

As an Enabling Support Worker, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support to individuals in their homes in the Exeter area, helping them achieve their goals, develop independence and maintain meaningful social connections.

Working in line with agreed care plans, you will support individuals to maximise their independent living skills, build confidence and participate more fully in their communities.

You will motivate and encourage progress towards personal goals, monitor outcomes and carry out reviews and spot checks as required, always promoting dignity, choice and inclusion.

    Additionally, you will:

    - Report concerns, observations and progress to the Services Manager
    - Maintain accurate records in line with organisational procedures
    - Follow policies and procedures relating to customer service, health and safety, equality and diversity

    About You

To be considered as an Enabling Support Worker, you will need:

    - Experience of working as part of a team
    - A sensitive approach to vulnerable people, maintaining their dignity and self-respect at all times
    - The ability to work alone in the community and as part of a team
    - The ability to communicate well with clients, carers and professionals
    - The ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records

Please note, some out-of-hours work will be necessary.

Other organisations might call this role Support Worker, Care Worker, Junior Support Worker, Community Support Assistant, Community Support Worker, Care Assistant, or Trainee Social Worker.

We are a disability friendly employer who welcomes applications from all members of the community and aspires to create an inclusive workplace for everyone.

Webrecruit and Headway Devon are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
