How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Design Engineer

    Abingdon (Hyrbid : 3 days onsite)
    Contract to March 2027 | £55/hr Umbrella (£40.08 PAYE)
    IR35: Inside IR35 only

    Role

    Opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support complex engineering projects, delivering designs from concept to detailed stage across major systems.

    🛠️ What You'll Do

    Accountable for supporting design work on major fusion sub-systems, from concept through to detailed design on enhancement programs for facilities as well as for future fusion devices.
    Accountable for design aspects relating to all assigned systems / components including repair, replacement or upgrade activities.
    Deliver electrical designs, upgrades, and modifications
    Produce technical documentation (drawings, BoMs, cable schedules)
    Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
    Support design validation and collaborate with wider teams
    Apply design for manufacture and value engineering principlesRequirements

    Electrical Engineering background with Control & Instrumentation experience
    Knowledge of UK/EU electrical standards (incl. BS EN (phone number removed))
    Solid Works (Electrical) CAD experience
    Strong design, technical documentation, and communication skills
    Relevant qualification (Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent)
    Proficient in the knowledge and application of recognised drawing standards and BS EN 61082 in particularDesirable

    BS 7671 (18th Edition)
    Experience with SolidWorks Electrical (currently used), EPLAN, or AutoCAD ElectricalCV Deadline: Wednesday 17th June - 12pm

    BPSS clearance will be required
