How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The below job description outlines the position of Marine Electrical Field Service Engineer.

    In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out fault finding, servicing, repairs, retrofits, and commissioning activities on a wide range of shipboard electrical, automation, and navigation systems. Work will typically be undertaken on vessels in service, dockside, in drydock, or during the build and commissioning phases.

    This opportunity would suit either an experienced Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) looking to transition ashore or an established Marine Electrical Field Service Engineer seeking a fresh challenge with a highly respected organisation.

    Duties and Responsibilities of the Marine Electrical Field Service Engineer:

    * Carry out fault finding, repairs to component level, servicing, testing, and commissioning of a wide range of marine electrical and electronic systems

    * Work across main and auxiliary equipment, from engine room systems through to bridge equipment, including power generation, distribution, switchgear, propulsion, instrumentation, automation, and navigation systems

    * Assist with the procurement and management of spare parts

    * Perform planned maintenance, overhauls, upgrades, and retrofit projects

    * Commission and set to work new installations and upgraded systems

    * Undertake modifications and improvements to existing installations

    * Work closely with the Electrical and Control Systems Design team to develop and deliver new-build and retrofit solutions for marine propulsion systems, auxiliary plant, offshore production systems, and specialist offshore equipment

    * Provide technical support, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers and other personnel

    Qualifications and Requirements for the Marine Electrical Field Service Engineer:

    * Full UK Driving Licence

    * Ability to travel throughout the UK and internationally at short notice

    * Previous marine electrical, automation, or ETO experience would be highly advantageous

    * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across marine electrical and control systems
