How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Internal Sales Executive – Timber Specialist

    Location: Hull
    Type: Permanent, Monday–Friday
    Salary: £35,000- £40,000 (plus senior-level progression opportunities)

    Job Summary

We’re representing a specialist Internal Sales Executive opportunity with a long‑established, family‑owned timber processing business at their northern site in Hull.

This senior internal role is designed for someone with deep technical knowledge of Timber. Working within a close‑knit sales office, you’ll act as a technical advisor and high‑value deal‑maker—managing premium trade accounts, optimising complex manufacturing enquiries and ensuring every order is delivered right‑first‑time.

It’s an ideal move for an experienced timber professional who enjoys relationship‑building, thrives on technical detail and wants to join a stable, growing business where expertise is genuinely valued.

    Main Duties

    * Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of high‑value trade customers, handling day‑to‑day enquiries by phone and email.

    * Take ownership of the full internal sales process: technical quotations, order entry, order confirmation and post‑sale follow‑up.

    * Use your specialist knowledge of Timber products to recommend suitable alternatives, upsell where appropriate and add value to each interaction.

    * Produce accurate pricing and technical specifications for bespoke machining, planed goods, specialist profiles and custom treatments.

    * Liaise closely with the in‑house mill, production teams, transport and external sales to coordinate complex machined orders and ensure OTIF delivery.

    * Monitor open orders, proactively resolve issues and manage customer expectations with realistic lead times based on mill capacity.

    * Support with pricing, raising quotes and maintaining price files in line with agreed margins.

    * Provide technical support to junior sales colleagues, acting as a point of escalation for complex enquiries.

    * Contribute ideas to improve internal processes, customer service and overall sales performance.

    Person Specification

    * Extensive experience in internal sales within a timber importer, processor or merchant, with strong technical understanding of European Redwood and machining profiles.

    * Comfortable managing a high volume of calls, quotes and complex orders while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

    * Strong communication skills—clear, confident and technically precise when advising customers across sectors such as leisure, outdoor buildings, merchants, architects and corporate buyers.

    * Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in sales, operations, logistics and mill production.

    * Highly organised, proactive and commercially minded, with a track record of hitting volume and margin targets.

    * Advanced IT capability, ideally with CRM/ERP experience for managing stock availability, custom run schedules and detailed customer datasets.

    * Uncompromising eye for detail, with the ability to translate complex timber specifications into accurate system entries without data loss
