How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Site Manager

    Location: Birmingham City Centre

    Project: £150m High-Rise Development

    Reporting To: Project Director / Project Manager

    Contractor: Regional Main Contractor

    Salary: Up to £70,000 + Package

    Role Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of a landmark £150m high-rise development in Central Birmingham. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing a large site team, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of a complex multi-storey construction project.

    The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering large-scale residential, mixed-use, commercial or high-rise projects for a main contractor and will possess strong leadership, planning and stakeholder management skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead and manage all site operations throughout the construction lifecycle.
    Directly manage Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractor teams.
    Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
    Develop and implement short-term and long-term construction programmes in conjunction with the Project Manager.
    Coordinate subcontractor activities and monitor performance against programme milestones.
    Chair daily briefings, coordination meetings and progress reviews.
    Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and project-specific requirements.
    Drive a positive safety culture and maintain exemplary site standards.
    Manage logistics, site access, deliveries and sequencing on a constrained city-centre project.
    Monitor quality assurance processes and ensure all works meet specification requirements.
    Identify and mitigate construction risks and resolve site issues proactively.
    Liaise with clients, consultants, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
    Support commercial teams with progress reporting, change management and subcontractor performance reviews.
    Ensure accurate reporting of progress, labour resources, programme updates and key project metrics.
    Mentor and develop junior members of the site management team.

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager or Site Manager on major construction projects valued in excess of £50m.
    Previous experience delivering high-rise residential, mixed-use or commercial developments.
    Strong leadership experience managing large site teams and multiple subcontract packages.
    Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, logistics and programme management.
    Thorough knowledge of UK construction legislation, health and safety regulations and quality standards.
    Ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
    Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
    Proficient in project reporting and site management systems.

    Qualifications

    SMSTS
    CSCS Black Card (Management Level)
    First Aid at Work
    Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent) preferred
    Temporary Works Coordinator certification desirable
    Scaffold Inspection qualification desirable
