How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Commercial Data Analyst

Hybrid Tangmere, West Sussex, or fully Remote

£50k to £65k plus Performance Bonus About Us

We are the clear market leader in our sector and one of the fastest growing car buying companies in the world. In the UK we generate over 100,000 customer enquiries each month and facilitate the purchase of thousands of vehicles through our high traffic websites and nationwide operations. We have now launched across the United States, with multiple states already operational and an ambitious plan to expand nationwide. Our rapid expansion and success have been driven by outstanding people, a strong culture, and our ability to lean into the advantages of cutting-edge technology. We are not a speculative startup. We have been established for over 15 years, are highly profitable, and have achieved this scale without external funding. Our target is bold: we are working towards a billion-dollar valuation within the next five years. Along the way, we want our growth to make a positive difference to others. We have already donated over £1 million to various charities.

    The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Head of Data, Pricing & Commercial Analytics, you will play a key role in helping the business make smarter, faster and more informed decisions through data. You will work across Product, Marketing, Commercial, Operations and Leadership teams, translating business questions into meaningful analysis, reporting and actionable insight. You will be comfortable navigating large and complex databases, understanding business logic, identifying edge cases and ensuring stakeholders can trust the data that drives decision making. This role would suit a commercially minded analyst who enjoys solving complex problems, challenging assumptions and continuously improving the way data is used across an organisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop a deep understanding of our products, systems, customer journeys and operational processes.

    • Translate business requirements into robust reporting, analysis and data solutions.

    • Design, build and maintain reporting suites, dashboards and visualisations using Power BI or equivalent BI platforms.

    • Investigate data discrepancies, reporting issues and stakeholder queries, identifying root causes and implementing long-term fixes.

    • Work with stakeholders to define metrics, KPIs and reporting frameworks.

    • Analyse large datasets to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement.

    • Support the design and implementation of new data models and reporting structures.

    • Collaborate with developers and product teams to ensure data is captured and structured effectively.

    • Validate calculations and business logic to ensure reporting accuracy.

    • Identify edge cases, anomalies and data quality issues before they impact business decisions.

    • Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, automation and data accessibility.

    Knowledge & Experience Required

    • Advanced SQL experience including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, subqueries, aggregations and query optimisation.

    • Experience working within mature and complex database environments.

    • Ability to confidently navigate unfamiliar systems and understand how data flows between applications.

    • Strong Power BI experience or equivalent business intelligence platform.

    • Experience building dashboards and reports with a strong focus on usability and stakeholder adoption.

    • Experience debugging data issues and resolving reporting discrepancies.

    • Experience gathering requirements and translating business questions into meaningful metrics and reporting.

    • Exposure to software development, programming or scripting languages such as Python, PHP, JavaScript or similar.

    • Comfortable working with statistical concepts and applying them to real-world business problems.

    • Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance.

    Person Specification

    • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.

    • Naturally curious and enjoys solving complex problems.

    • Able to identify inconsistencies, edge cases and logical flaws. • Commercially minded and capable of challenging assumptions.

    • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.

    • Comfortable learning new tools, technologies and methodologies independently.

    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    • Organised, methodical and dependable.

    • Positive, pragmatic and solutions focused.
