How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electronics Design Manager

    Salary: Up to £85,000 (flexibility for exceptional candidates)
    Location: Cambridge

    A growing technology business is seeking an experienced Electronics Design Manager to lead a highly skilled engineering function responsible for the development and delivery of complex electronic products.

    This is a predominantly managerial position requiring strong technical credibility. You'll lead a team of approximately 12 engineers through 3 direct reports, overseeing technical delivery, stakeholder management, manufacturing support, and product development activities across multiple disciplines.

    The Role

    As Electronics Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the electronics function, ensuring successful project delivery, and driving continuous improvement across engineering processes.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Leading and developing a team of approximately 12 engineers through 3 direct reports

    * Managing electronics design activities across multiple concurrent projects

    * Providing technical leadership across PCB/PCA design, multi-layer boards, FPGA-related technologies, and product development

    * Supporting manufacturing and production teams throughout the product lifecycle

    * Driving Design for Assembly (DFA) and engineering process improvements

    * Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful programme delivery

    About You

    We're looking for a strong people leader with a solid electronics engineering background and the ability to operate effectively at both a technical and organisational level.

    You will ideally have:

    * Proven experience leading electronics engineering teams

    * Strong technical knowledge of electronic product development (FPGA's, multi-later PCB design etc)

    * A track record of developing engineering teams and improving engineering processes

    * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

    * Experience working within fast-paced, growth-focused or scale-up environments

    * An understanding of Agile development methodologies

    * The ability to balance technical oversight with broader business and operational objectives
