How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Manage own cases (renewal and new business), writing within risk selection, appetite, and underwriting authority.

Undertake referral cases above the authority levels of Underwriters, Trainee Underwriters and Apprentices, whilst adhering to individual authority level.

Adopt and adhere to company and NUH-prescribed processes, best practice and standard work.

Support the personal development of underwriting staff by delivering training and technical guidance.

Enhance the company's national standing and presence by establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at the most important brokers.

Contribute to the technical knowledge of the business by feeding back technical and commercial market intelligence to the NUH Underwriting Manager and wider team.

Maintain and enhance personal knowledge of relevant technical issues.

Work collaboratively with other parts of the organisation, including regional offices, claims and survey teams.

Conduct regular case reviews to ensure technical procedures and standards are always followed.

    EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years' experience in underwriting.

Proven broker account development and management experience.

Proven track record of successfully developing and maintaining effective trading relationships.

Experience working across functions and matrix organisations to collaborate and build strong relationships.

Consistently achieving goals and objectives within a structured, organised and planned manner.

    SKILLS

Strong risk perception and ability to price risk accordingly.

Effective negotiation skills — flexible and appropriate in approach.

    Confident selling and trading skills.

Strong organisational skills with operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal.
