How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Speech and Language Specialist - KS2 Support Role

    Location: Medway, Kent
    Position: Speech and Language Specialist / SEN Support
    Hours: Part-Time (Mornings Only Initially) FTC
    Start Date: September 2026

    Academics Rochester is recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Speech and Language Specialist to support a Key Stage 2 pupil within a supportive primary school in the Medway area.

    This rewarding role involves providing specialist 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil who is currently accessing a reduced timetable and will attend school during morning sessions initially. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil develop communication skills, engage in learning, and build confidence within the school environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide tailored 1:1 support to a non-verbal KS2 pupil.
    Implement speech, language and communication strategies in line with the pupil's individual needs.
    Use visual aids, communication tools and alternative methods of communication to support learning and engagement.
    Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents and external professionals.
    Encourage the pupil's independence, participation and social development.
    Monitor progress and contribute to ongoing support plans.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Experience supporting children with speech, language and communication needs.
    Knowledge of supporting non-verbal pupils in an educational setting.
    A calm, patient and nurturing approach, balanced with the confidence to set clear boundaries and maintain high expectations.
    The ability to remain firm, consistent and resilient when supporting pupils with complex needs.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    Experience within a primary school or SEN setting is desirable.
    Experience or knowledge of Makaton is highly desirable
