How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Imagine stepping into a state-of-the-art Research & Development Centre where your mechanical expertise directly impacts the next generation of global drivetrain systems. If you are a hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex mechanical puzzles, mastering test cell environments, and driving small-to-medium facility projects from concept to execution, this is your sandbox. We are partnering with a world-leading, large global manufacturer to find a dynamic Mechanical Engineer ready to leave their mark on cutting-edge engineering infrastructure. If you want a role where no two days are the same and your problem-solving skills genuinely matter, let's talk.

    Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

    Term: 6-Month Contract

    Working Pattern: Monday - Thursday: 8:30 - 4:45 pm Friday - 8:30 - 4:15 pm

    Pay Rate: £25.40 - £29.10 p/h (PAYE)

    What You Will Do:

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will be a key player in the Test Facilities Engineering team. Your primary focus will be designing, implementing, and upgrading development facilities to ensure they are ready for current and future powertrain systems.

    Key responsibilities include:

System Design & Deployment: Evaluating, selecting, and deploying advanced powertrain test cell technologies, alongside designing mechanical systems and supporting services.

Facility Modifications: Modifying facility plant, test rigs, and equipment to meet evolving strategic demands.

Complex Problem Solving: Leading complex fault-finding initiatives across the facility, specifically focusing on services and safety systems within the test cell environment.

Project Leadership: Collaborating with multi-functional teams and external third parties to lead and execute small-to-medium engineering projects.

Documentation: Developing and maintaining engineering processes, and compiling technical reports to distribute key insights and recommendations.

    What We Are Looking For:

Our client needs someone who can hit the ground running with a blend of practical, hands-on experience and solid analytical capabilities.

Industry Experience: A proven track record working within an engine, powertrain, or EV test cell environment (or extensive experience with relevant mechanical and safety systems).

Core Technical Skills: Strong hands-on test cell/test facilities experience, excellent project handling capabilities, and a knack for complex fault-finding.

Qualifications: An Engineering or Technical Degree is preferred, though candidates qualified through substantial, relevant work experience are highly encouraged to apply.

IT Literacy: Proficiency in using standard PC engineering software.

    Intrigued?

This is a brilliant opportunity to embed yourself within a world-class manufacturing engineering environment. If you have the test cell experience and problem-solving drive our client is looking for, apply today with your updated CV!
