How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project Controller

    Based in Stevenage

    Salary: Up to £48,000

    You're good at what you do. You understand projects, can analyse data, you can read a project report without flinching, and you know the difference between a baseline that works and one that's just there for show.

    Maybe you're not actively looking. That's fine. But if you've ever wondered whether your skills could do more, this is worth two minutes of your time.

    A major defence prime is growing its project controls function, and they need people who understand the discipline, not just those who can populate a Primavera template. You'll be embedded in live programmes, working across schedule validation, integrated baseline management, schedule risk analysis, and cost-to-go forecasting. Real work, real accountability.

    The environment is collaborative, the work is meaningful, and the salary lands between £40,000 and £48,000 depending on where you are in your career. Add in hybrid working, a pension contribution of up to 14%, flexi leave, and paid overtime, and it's a solid package.

    Ideally, you'll already have had some exposure to project delivery, be comfortable with data production and analysis, and familiarity with tools like Primavera, SAP, or ARM would be beneficial. The level of experience is flexible, as they're recruiting across a range of seniority levels.

    Security clearance eligibility is required, so British citizenship is essential.
