How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
You'll be joining one of the UK's leading construction and infrastructure groups, known for delivering major national projects that improve the built environment and support long‑term community outcomes. The organisation operates across buildings, highways, water, and environmental infrastructure, with a strong focus on innovation, stakeholder value, and sustainable delivery. They are a FTSE‑listed business with a long heritage in civil engineering, consistently recognised for their value‑driven approach and their role in providing essential infrastructure across the country.

    Your new role
This position is offered Outside IR35, subject to assessment.
You will play a key role in delivering a major environmental and water‑infrastructure programme across Leicestershire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire, supporting regulatory compliance, construction‑phase environmental management, and ecological considerations. Your responsibilities will include:

Producing scoping documents and environmental reports.
Developing silt mitigation plans and water quality management measures.
Supporting HRA, FRAPs and discharge consent applications.
Managing permit acquisition, monitoring requirements and compliance activities.
Reviewing and applying KEMP and PEA findings to the project.
Liaising with regulators and statutory authorities throughout the scheme.
Collaborating with contractors already undertaking early‑phase works, including de‑vegetation and ecology support.
Providing environmental input across a cross‑country water transfer route as part of a WINEP‑driven river health improvement scheme.
    What you'll need to succeed

Strong environmental consultancy / management background.
Experience with HRA, FRAPs, discharge consents, and permitting processes.
Ability to produce high‑quality environmental documents (scoping, water quality, silt mitigation).
Confidence working with regulators, authorities, and contractors.
Availability for a full‑time, 12‑month contract and able to attend a corporate induction at the start of the month.
    Flexibility to work across Staffordshire/Leicestershire/Derbyshire
    What you'll get in return

12‑month full‑time contract on a major WINEP project.
    £300-£450 per day DOE
Opportunity to work alongside established professionals on a high‑profile river health and infrastructure scheme.
Involvement across multiple environmental disciplines with long‑term project visibility.
Ongoing support from an experienced environmental recruitment team
