How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    What are they looking for?

They seek a talented individual that can deliver a high-quality service, has the ability to think outside the box, and who enjoys a collaborative approach to developing pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the various technical challenges land development can present.

They are looking for a candidate that has a good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high quality work on a range of projects. The individual will support schemes through design drawings and calculations to accompany planning applications through to construction.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:

    •      BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a degree qualification in a related subject plus 2+ years relevant post graduate experience.

    •      Experience in highway engineering, drainage engineering or general development infrastructure design.

    •      A good understanding of relevant best practice and guidance. Experience in highway and drainage design using for example Manual for Streets, DMRB, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, and Local Authority design standards is desirable.

    •      Numerate and software literate. Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Knowledge of 3D modelling software such as Civils3D or similar, and drainage modelling software such as MicroDrainage or similar would be desirable.

    •      To be able to prepare drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements applying the relevant principles, design codes and standards.

    •      Consultancy/private sector development background with a bias towards private sector development work.

    •      Effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach and enjoys responsibility.

    •      Ideally a full driving licence and access to a car.

You can expect to be part of a proactive and vibrant team that encourages individual autonomy and initiative. We feel this helps to facilitate a better work life balance that suits individual’s needs, whilst still being assured of a supportive and collaborative working environment.

You will be working on a diverse set of interesting and challenging projects; no one day will be the same! The Team itself is on a trajectory of growth and diversification, making this an incredibly exciting time to join the team.

They would be with you every step of the way, offering opportunities for learning and development to help you achieve your career goals and aspirations
