How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: Contract Product Safety & Compliance Engineer
    Location: Nottingham
Rate: £40 to 50 per hour
Employment Type: Contract - Indicative Outside IR35
Working Arrangements: Hybrid - See below.

As the Contract Product Safety & Compliance Engineer, you’ll be the go‑to specialist ensuring products meet the highest safety and regulatory standards. This isn’t a box‑ticking role - you’ll have real influence across R&D, shaping how new products reach certification while keeping legacy products fully compliant. If you enjoy autonomy, technical challenge and being the person everyone relies on for “getting it right”, this is a great fit.

    What You’ll Own
    - Lead all product safety and compliance activity across new development and existing product lines
    - Drive certifications for CE, UL, EMC and related regulatory frameworks
    - Partner with R&D to guide products through the full certification lifecycle
    - Review designs, test plans and documentation to ensure compliance from concept to release
    - Manage relationships with external test houses and certification bodies
    - Maintain and update legacy certifications, ensuring continued conformity
    - Support internal teams with audits, corrective actions and compliance queries

    What You Bring
    - Strong experience in product safety, compliance and certification management - specifically for electronic/electro-mechanical products
    - Solid understanding of CE marking, UL standards, EMC testing and regulatory pathways
    - Confidence working closely with engineering and R&D teams
    - Ability to interpret standards, assess risk and advise on compliance strategy
    - Clear, structured documentation and communication skills

Working arrangements: Hybrid, with a strong emphasis on working where the work is best done. On‑site presence is expected for hands‑on tasks, testing and collaboration; remote working is supported for documentation and planning.
